Our Yoga retreat in Portugal is located in Burgau, a charming
and traditional village
Burgau is an old fisherman’s village. Located in the southern region of Portugal called Algarve. Burgau beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Lagos area. The village is on the edge of national park Costa Vicentina, which makes it an amazing place to spend your yoga holiday surrounded by wild nature of the national park and the Atlantic ocean.
From Burgau you are able to hike along the south coastline, contemplating the rock formations and discover secret beaches. Beside that, not far from Burgau village, you have Cabanas Velhas beach, one of our favourite beaches in the Algarve region.
It's characterized by its picturesque streets, crystal clear waters and stunning coastline.

From Faro airport: 100 km
From Lisbon airport: 300 km
Faro is the closest airport
there get a shuttle to Burgau
Book in advance the shuttle
Tell the driver to drop you at “Mais Perto” SuperMarket. We will pick you up there.
Depending on the time of arrival, also possible to get public transports.
Buy ticket to Lagos.
Another possibility is to rent a car at the airport and drive towards Burgau.
If you drive on the motorway will take around 1 hour.
We are also close to all restaurants, cafés, bars and two small supermarkets in Burgau. No ones get bored!
Every Sunday afternoon we enjoy some live music at the beach bar just a few meters away from our yoga retreat center.
Also possible to visit Salema Beach and the Paleolithic Archaeological Village of Vale de Boi, both less than six kilometers from Burgau. In addition, it is possible to explore ancient wrecks and Roman artefacts in Boca do Rio area.
Moreover daily buses runs every day to the beautiful town of Lagos and to the most Western point of Europe, Sagres.

Area and Activities
HISTORIC CITY CENTER | SHOPS | KAYAKING | AMAZING CLIFFS
Lagos is situated 15 min away from our yoga retreat center by car or 2 hours away for those who like long hikes along the amazing coastline of the Algarve. This town is well known for its breathtaking sandy beaches and coastline. One of the most beautiful spots to visit in Lagos are Ponta da Piedade, Praia do Camilo and Praia Dona.
Possible to explore these either walking along the amazing cliffs in Lagos or rent a SUP Board or Kayak to explore the grottos and rock formations by sea. Not least, worth of a visit, the historic city center of Lagos with its beautiful tiles, great cafes (don’t forget to try the famous pastel de nata) and lots of nice shops is also a Must-See.
Amazing sunset | wild nature | Surfing
Sagres, situated 20 min away from our yoga retreat center, is the most western town of the Algarve and a great destination for visitors who appreciate nature’s raw beauty and surfing. This region is formed of massive cliffs and vast beaches surrounded by the Atlantic ocean. Are you into surfing then Sagres is the best place for its variety of beaches and waves. Not into surfing? No problem, simply enjoy an amazing sunset next to the Cape St. Vincent.
Amazing BEACHES | CUTE VILLAGE | Surfing
Carrapateira is one of our favourite towns of the west coast in Portugal. Well known for its amazing beaches, Praia do Amado and Praia da Bordeira, it is one of the best spots for surfing in the Algarve. Carrapateira is a cute little village filled with nice restaurants and cafes. Don’t miss it!

Algarve isn’t only sandy beaches and surfing.
Monchique is a small town just 50 min. away from our yoga retreat center. Its a very traditional town in the north-western Algarve, surrounded by nature and forests. This town is famous for its geothermal springs, vegetation, handicraft and local specialities.
